The Duke

John Wayne, the man inside the myth

Because I can't spent all my time making fun of Democrats, Canadians, communists, jihadis, and Palin haters (yeah, I know, one of those was redundant).

Over the past few nights, my wife and I have been watching the PBS series "You Must Remember This," a history of the Warner Brothers Studio. This is a wonderful example of film history, from the narration by Clint Eastwood, to the terrific archival film. In 1923, Warner Brothers' only "bankable" star was Rin-Tin-Tin, whose adventures were scripted by Darryl F. Zanuck. The story takes off from there ...

Even John Wayne appeared under the Warner Brothers badge.
